Police Protect Network

Each of the five forces of the South West (Avon and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire) have dedicated Cyber Crime units who work together to protect local people and their businesses against cyber threats, by improving their resilience and providing support.

The local Cyber Crime Units are regionally coordinated by the South West Regional Cyber Crime Unit (SWRCCU), who investigate cyber dependent crimes affecting organisations of all sizes and sectors across the five force areas.

The SWRCCU have dedicated Protect officers who help organisations become more cyber resilient through nationally recognised guidance, supplemented by the unit’s own investigative experience, as well as bespoke workshops.

Through the National Crime Agency’s Cyber Choices initiative, the team also works to deter primarily young people from committing cyber offences, and engages with hundreds of schools and partner agencies across the South West.

The regional and local units form part of Team Cyber UK to deliver the National Cyber Crime Strategy 2016 – 2021 and support the National Cyber Security Centre.
